Graffiti Helps NYC Tourists

MTA Logo on Subway Car

Local graffiti artists strike again.

First, Improv Everywhere painted ‘New Yorker’ and ‘Tourist’ lanes on the sidewalks. Now. someone is helping out tourists navigate the city’s Subway by spray painting compasses outside popular subway stations.

As much as I like the New York City Subway, it can be difficult to navigate if you aren’t familiar with the landscape. Even with a map, I’m sure tourists get tripped up. I actually find the maps in the Underground to be easier to read than even the MTA’s recently redesigned maps. Let’s hope Jay Walder doesn’t respond negatively to this and begins to incorporate more than just the Oyster card into turnstiles.
