Moynihan: Ahead of His Time

by Christopher Paul on July 3, 2010

Newly released papers from the Nixon Presidential Library show longtime NY Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan – who I’ve always considered one of the greatest political & philosophical thinkers of my generation – was ahead of time on many subjects such as global warming and race & civil rights issues.

Under Nixon, Moynihan was the Counselor to the President for Urban Affairs and ad wide influence on social policy. I felt he was a great Senator for New York and I’m very glad he’ll be honored as one of the great New York names when the Moynihan Station replaces Penn Station. Phase 1 is expected to begin this year and should be completed in 5 years.
