15 lbs.

They say the camera adds pounds to a person. The number depends on who you’re talking about; skinny models get 5, us regular folk get 10 or 15. My camera doesn’t make me look heavier than I am, though. My camera makes me look older.

When I look at the pictures I take of me, I feel like I age 15 years and suddenly become disheveled. Every wrinkle comes out, my hair becomes messed up, and my clothes don’t fit right. I sometimes feel that my tie suddenly comes undone. It’s like I’m looking at the bum version of myself.

What that tells me is that I’m uglier than I think I am. I don’t really think I’m ugly, mind you. I just think I’m an ok looking guy in the mirror. I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder and the camera’s eye sees something my eyes don’t.
