Google Maps Minus Maps

Similar to how Dan Walsh takes out Garfield in Garfield Minus Garfield, Damon Zucconi takes out the maps in Google Maps. He takes out everything but the labels of places, highway signs, and certain landmark information. Its all powered by Google Maps but he blocks the underlying ground data that forms the geography.

In the screen capture I posted above, you can the formation of Long Island even without the obvious boarders. But what I find even more fascinating is that you can infer the location I-95 or something of a major corridor by seeing how the cities are “stacked” on top of one another in Connecticut & Rhode Island.
