Vimeo’s Universal Player

by Christopher Paul on August 20, 2010

More of an announcement about the site than highlighting something newsworthy (although it is newsworthy):

Vimeo recently announced an upgrade to their emendable video player. They call it the Universal Player and its been available since Tuesday. Over the weekend, I’m going to go back and revert all the video I’ve embedded from their site to the new player – and upgrade the window resolution (since I changed the blog width recently).

I’ve been a fan of Vimeo for some time – I’m a Plus Member. YouTube is great and all but the quality of the video (in bit rate and artistry) doesn’t compare to those posted to Vimeo, IMHO.

For those who aren’t familiar with the recent announcement, it means you’ll be able to watch the videos I blog about on your iPhone, iPad, or other mobile device that supports HTML5. You don’t have to rely on Flash anymore.

While I’m on the subject, if there is anything you’d like me to post more about – whether its video or otherwise – let me know and I’ll do my best to find more of the types of posts you enjoy seeing.

– The Management
