Fact About Corn

I knew corn wasn’t the best crop to plant if you’re concerned about the environment; it requires a lot of water and other resources. But I didn’t know corn only processes about half the fertilizer it’s given.

That’s why runoff from the fields is so bad for the surrounding ecosystems. The nitrate and phosphorous can suffocate fish. The down stream effect (pun intended) is significant.
