Eats Your Spinach

Popeye was on to something.

According to The Daily, spinach – long called a superfood – just got more super. Doctors say that, in addition to providing iron and other nutrients, it delivers inorganic nitrate which helps mitochondria produce more energy without using additional oxygen.

Not only will this help build muscle during a workout, it might also help with cardiovascular health outside of the gym. Of course, the article (and the doctors) say you shouldn’t rush out to take nitrate supplements just yet. But a few extra servings of the green stuff won’t hurt – and just might make you strong to the finish.
