Pencil Geeks Rejoice! The Blackwing 602 Is Back

by Christopher Paul on June 17, 2011

Fans of the Blackwing 602 – with it’s soft lead and unique eraser – should be comforted at the recent refresh. If you don’t recall, the famed pencil stopped being made in 1998 with some unused pencils going for $20 on eBay.

The rights were bought by California Cedar Products and reproduced but not with great reviews (or not as great as the original). But under the Palomino Blackwing 602 name, the pencil is close to the original.

They’re pricey – as pencils go – but if you must have the perfect one, they say this is it.

The new Palomino Blackwing 602 pencil is a fine tribute to the Eberhard Faber Blackwing 602 – Boing Boing
