World War II In Photos: A Restrospective in 20 Parts

by Christopher Paul on June 20, 2011

The Atlantic is quickly becoming one of my favorite sites on the net and this 20 part photographic retrospective on WWII is – and looks to be – fascinating.

They’ve recently released the first part: photos taken before the war began. They show images from after Hitler was released from prison in 1924, Japan’s war with China, Spain’s Civil War, Mussolini’s rise to power and the Italian occupation of Ethiopia. There are 45 images in this part.

A new part will be released each week until October 30th. I’ll be coming back each week and if there is anything in particular, I’ll mention it here.
