Pinboard was also affected by the FBI raid that stole Instapaper. They posted an FAQ on their blog. I’ll try to translate where I can.
“Does the FBI have my bookmarks?
In order for the FBI to collect this data, they would need a warrant for it. At this point I have no reason to believe our site was included in the warrant. A FOIA request for the warrant has been filed and we should be able to see it within about two weeks.”
A: Yes… But it doesn’t mean they should.
“Is my password safe?
This depends on how much you trust the FBI.”
A: No.
One odd thing, though, is the Pinboard guys are saying Instapaper stored passwords in plain when Marco Arment already said he uses salted SHA1 hashes just like Pinboard. I don’t know where they got the idea that plain text was involved but, either way, I’d change your password(s).
