Earlier, I effectively said I am not a fan of GoDaddy. I didn’t want to go into all the reasons but I have them. Jason, Kottke, however, did summarize why some – myself included – have issues with the company. Most of my complaints center around their shady policies and their poor products; have you ever tried to manage hosting on their sites? And don’t ask me why I have experience with this… it wasn’t my choice.

But the hunting of elephants by its CEO and their advertising don’t help my impression of them. I would recommend almost anyone but GoDaddy for domain registration and certainly would avoid them for hosting. If you want to switch, here is a guide Kottke linked to.
