Flashback Trojan Deletes Itself If Xcode is Installed

by Christopher Paul on April 6, 2012

Very interesting news about the Flashback trojan that supposedly has infected 600,000 of between 45 an 70 million Macs. According to F-Secure, the app will delete itself it finds a user has Xcode (among other tools) and move on. The list of apps looks like they could or would be used by technical people, developers, and hackers – not your average user.

Andy Baio:

“To a virus author, the presence of development tools like Xcode is a perfect indicator of a tech-savvy user… the kind of person most likely to detect your work.”
