Free, open source image optimizer reduces the size of all types of web images making websites load faster. You can use it by dragging images into the app or the dock icon, running shell scripts, or by installing a system service.

Before, I used the WP Smush It to automatically optimize my images using Yahoo!’s Smush It service. But my current host doesn’t allow the plugin (apparently, it takes up a lot of memory on the server). That policy had me posting less images to the site because I’m pretty obsessed with page load times.

Using ImageOptim will help make posting images much easier again.
