Apple Now Disables Old Versions Of Flash In Safari

by Christopher Paul on May 10, 2012

Now this is smart. Apple’s newest version of Safari will automatically disable Adobe’s Flash on a user’s computer if it’s not the most recent version.

I wonder if this will help accelerate the decline of Flash. Eventually, users will stop upgrading because the bother they have to go through to upgrade won’t be worth it; they’ll just find sites that don’t use flash. Video sites like Google and Vimeo already support HTML5 so that takes care of most of them.

I uninstalled Flash on my laptop a long time ago. I have no complaints and I haven’t looked back since.
