I got teary-eyed at watching this video. While Apple might have featured its products and the apps on its platform, make no mistake that any mobile device and any platform has the power to change people’s lives in ways we couldn’t think of just three or four years ago.

The Tampa Bay Times has compiled a list of the top 50 worst charities. These are organizations that raise tens or hundreds of millions of dollars and hardly give any to the benefactors they claim to fight so hard for.
Not surprising, cancer charities make up a large part of this list. Veteran, police, and firefighter assistance funds make up the rest.

I’m still getting used to the excessive neon but there isn’t much question the new interface isn’t flat and isn’t skeuomorphic either.
Apparently all this government spying is getting people to read George Orwell’s classic, 1984. Sales are up over 7,000% and it’s (as if this writing) been in the top 100 books sold on Amazon for the past two days.
And I agree with Jason Kottke… if you’re going to buy the book, get the Penguin Classic version.
