by Christopher Paul on February 5, 2013 Have you seen those beer making kits? You know, the ones that have just about everything you need to brew your own batch of beer in one cardboard box? They’re from the Brooklyn Brew Shop and the owners, Erica and Stephen have turned their love of cooking and brewing into a fantastic small business. Recently, they were featured by Dark Rye — which is Whole Foods’ digital magazine.
I’m not a fan of the cinematography in this video — too many vintage style flashbacks — but the story of how started this brew empire together is pretty interesting. I’ve thought about getting their kits to try it out but hesitated for some reason. But I just might give it a try — especially now that I know they’re from Brooklyn.
by Christopher Paul on February 5, 2013 Archeologists have found King Richard III’s remains:
On Monday, confirming what many historians and archaeologists had suspected, a team of experts at the University of Leicester concluded on the basis of DNA and other evidence that the skeletal remains were those of King Richard III, for centuries the most reviled of English monarchs. But the conclusion, said to have been reached “beyond any reasonable doubt,” promised to achieve much more than an end to the oblivion that has been Richard’s fate since his death on Aug. 22, 1485, at the Battle of Bosworth Field, 20 miles from this ancient city in the sheep country of England’s East Midlands.
He was only a king for two years and got that title questionably (depedning on who’s family you support) and was the subject of William Shakespeare.

That’s why I’d love to see Apple step in and buy Nintendo, and let them operate as the independent iOS gaming wing of the company. If Apple wants to move hardware, it’s hard to imagine a better way than having exclusives on all of the Nintendo titles going forward (as well as the back catalog).
I think Nintendo is just one of many publishers that Apple could leverage. I still hold fast that Duck Duck Go,Path, and Vimeo are great properties and could compliment iOS very well. But having a strong game publisher would be amazing.

by Christopher Paul on February 4, 2013 When I moved to New York, there were only two things I missed from my home town. The crisp, unpolluted air and the stars visible from the night sky. Whenever I visit, I always take a deep breath and stare up at the sky and look at the familiar constellations, planets, and the Milky Way and enjoy a brief moment of clarity, mental solitude, and amazement at how special and insignificant we are in the universe.
I’ve always wondered what the stars over New York would look like if light and air pollution didn’t block their view. Well, now I don’t have to. The New York Times found images from a series of photos called Darkened Skies by Thierry Cohen.
Here is one image from Cohen’s work:
There are other cities in the series and New Yorkers can see the gallery of photos starting on March 28.
