The Best Films of the 90s

by Christopher Paul on October 11, 2012

The AV Club has a great three part serious where they list their favorite 50 movies from the 90s. It’s hard to argue with what they’ve come up with. They even recognized the brilliance of Groundhog Day.

Here’s Part One, Part Two, and Part Three

No More Burnt Feeds

by Christopher Paul on October 10, 2012

Quick note for the site. I’ve decided to stop using Feedburner. There really isn’t a need for it on my end and I hate that Google is getting data off of my links and your clicks.

I hope the transition will be seamless but if you’ve subscribed to my RSS feed, you might need to add it back again. Sorry.

Stop Pagination Now

by Christopher Paul on October 7, 2012

I don’t know if I can say it any better:

Pagination is one of the worst design and usability sins on the Web, the kind of obvious no-no that should have gone out with blinky text, dancing cat animations, and autoplaying music. It shows constant, quiet contempt for people who should be any news site’s highest priority—folks who want to read articles all the way to the end.

I even hate article excerpts in RSS and on the home page. If I can’t read the whole thing at once when I’m first introduced to the article, I won’t want to continue. I won’t want to come back to the site either.

Not that I have lots of readers but those that I have will never have to worry about clicking through just to read more of what I have to say. The only exception is if I embed a ridiculously large infographic and I haven’t done that in a long while.
