How We Nearly Lost Discovery

by Christopher Paul on April 23, 2012

Wayne Hale writes about how the Space Shuttle Discovery suffered from the same cracked foam that doomed Shuttle Columbia. I could never compare myself to a NASA engineer; they are the best of the best if you ask me. But under intense situations, even the best can miss something leading to potentially catastrophic loss.

It’s a well timed post given the Discovery and the Enterprise are being transported for display and it’s hard to ignore the idea that Discovery could have been destroyed, too.
