Just about every fan of The Magazine has linked to this review and commentary by Craig Mod. It’s an intelligent look at the future of publishing and why most efforts to publish magazines for the digital age have failed. And there is so much I could quote that I’m just going to recommend you read the whole thing. It’s worth it.

And while I agree with everything he says, to me the argument comes down to understanding your product and your market. Know them, and you’ll do well. Ignore them, and you’ll be disrupted.
