Mapping Apple’s Retail Expansion

Today’s obligatory Apple post is brought to you my MacStories which documents their retail expansion throughout the globe. There’s some great HTML5 code to help illustrate the history, profitability, and traffic of their, at the time, risky experiment. Graham Spencer follows that up with some great visualizations to show a more traditional review.

It’s hard to remember but Apple wasn’t profitable for many years; they haven’t even been profitable for 10 whole years. It wasn’t even until 2007 that profitability spiked… right after the first iPhone became available.
