A Reflection on 2012 and Earlier: Birthdays

by Christopher Paul on January 7, 2013

Last year, I wasn’t good at all at wishing people a happy birthday. It’s one of the few things I regret I didn’t do. This year, I want to be better though I’m not off to a good start. According to my calendar, I’ve already missed seven January birthdays and three from late December that I should have said something about.

When I receive wall posts, cards, texts, calls, and emails wishing me a happy birthday, I feel a little better. Even though it’s very easy to log on to Twitter or Facebook and say something, it’s nice knowing that someone was mindful enough to mention it amid other events that could be more important than me.

When I look back at 2012 and think about how I want to make my 2013 even better, this is one thing I’m going to focus on. Even with the distance of social media, it’s nice to be thought of and I’m going to make sure I think of others more often.
